My Disability

My name is Alexander Durham.  I am 16 years old and I’m a Junior at New Trier High School.  My disability is Tourette syndrome.  My Tourette’s is an umbrella of ADHD, OCD, ODD, and tics.  Tourette’s is on top.  Tourette’s affects my brain and neurological system.  My Tourette’s is very minimal because of the umbrella.  So, I don’t have all the verbal and physical tics that most people with Tourette’s do have.  And, also, I am on medication which helps control tics.  I haven’t had tics since I was in 8^th grade.  I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5.  I had a seizure when I was in 4^th grade.  I do not know when I was diagnosed with Tourette’s.  I’m not sure why I have Tourette syndrome.  I am okay with my Tourette’s but I wish I had more friends and I wish I didn’t act certain ways.
